The primary purpose of this position is:
To perform the full range of military personnel programs (awards, assignments, separations, limited duty, reenlistments, training, advancement, travel/passports, compensation, benefits, ID cards ) in support of the JB CHS Personnel Support Detachment (PSD) for supported naval commands in the local area as well as geographically separated supported locations.

The Incumbent will also:
·

Processes all paperwork and standard actions necessary to process members for assignment, enlistment, reenlistment, promotion, awards, performance evaluation, routine boards, separation, discharge, retirement, release from active duty, student control, disciplinary, DEERS eligibility or similar matters and performs a substantive review of records to determine eligibility for appropriate actions. Updates, inquires, and processes actions through various personnel data systems.

Uses word-processing software to create, copy, edit, store, retrieve, and print forms,

memos, letters and spreadsheets. Uses existing database systems and/or spreadsheets to create, enter, revise, sort, calculate, or retrieve data for and update reports and records.

Reviews pay accounts and service records to discover and correct irregularities. Adjusts membersÂ' accounts to reflect effects of obligations and expenditures, and works with DFAS and command personnel to correct conditions that could result in an over/under-obligation of funds, to include initiating debt collection actions for overpayments and prepares initial correspondence as appropriate.

Performs final prepayment review of all travel documents to ensure the accuracy and validity of monetary entitlements prior to approval for disbursement. Ensures appropriate and accurate supporting documents are attached to each claim prior to payment and sub! sequent submission for payment.

Examples of creditable specialized experience include:

A 4-year course of study above high school leading to a bachelor's degree with courses education must include courses directly related to the work of the position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1.

Knowledge of a standardized body of military personnel regulations and procedures relating to military assignments, separations and retirements, testing, passports, and of the format, content, and uses of the military personnel records and the procedures and requirements regarding their maintenance sufficient to process a variety of requests for personnel action.

2.

Knowledge of basic military organizational struct! ure, protocol, and similar matters; knowledge of general office administrative and clerical procedures (qualified typist not required).

3.

Knowledge of the military personnel automated system and various office automation hardware, software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, and graphs.

4.

Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and maintain effective work relationships;

s

kill in entering and retrieving data and correcting data errors in military pay/personnel system(s).

5. Knowledge of a body of standardized military pay rules, regulations, laws, allowances, and procedures; the data system(s) used to support military pay actions; and federal debt collection rules and regulations sufficient to interpret/analyze/apply regulations and procedures related to military claims, travel, indebtedness a! nd pay.

: Credit will ! be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
