Exhibits current clinical knowledge and expertise for designated patient populations. Accountable for continued competence in nursing practice and clinical outcomes in accordance with current evidenced â" based practice guidelines. Responsible for facilitating the planning, implementation and evaluation of the process-improvement initiatives to promote excellence, insure patient and staff safety, and enhance quality of care. Assumes leadership role in departmental and organizational goals. Facilitates on-going peer review and mentoring programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES (In addition to the core responsibilities of the job)
1. Collaborative Practice:
Education: Graduate of an accredited school or college of nursing. MSN required. Certification also preferred.
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of recent clinical experience. Experience as clinical nurse specialist preferred.
Licensure/Certification: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of South Carolina or holds a current compact/multi-state license as a Registered Nurse in a recognized NCSBN Compact State and is not a permanent resident of SC.
Knowledge/Skills: Ability to apply leadership, disease-management, and quality improvement principles, combined with the knowledge of professional nursing practice.

RESPONSIBILITIES (In addition to the core responsibilities of the job)
1. Collaborative Practice:
- This position will work within the core CPOE team to facilitate order and order set development with physicians, managers and other disciplines.
- Serve on the CPOE Content Committee and participate as needed in associated clinical committees to insure clinical appropriateness of orders and order sets.
- Lead and facilitate order set design sessions, involving Information Services technical team and clinical informatics team, to translate clinical order content into the computerized provider order entry system.
- Lead and facilitate testing and review sessions to insure the computerized order sets function appropriately in the clinical setting.
- Develop and implement educational curriculum associated with order sets and the use of the computerize provider order entry system.
- Provide direct operational support for physicians, nurses and other disciplines using the computerized order entry system.
- Work with the Information Services technical teams to assess and resolve issues or requests related to the function of the computerized provider order entry system.
