This position is ideal for those seeking a work/life balance with the ability to work a hybrid of both office and remote work environments. The duties of this position are performed remotely as well as at our central office in Salem. The ability to report to Salem is required when business or operational needs are dependent on onsite activities and you will be required to report to the Salem office a minimum of two days per week.

As the Human Resource Assistant, you will be part of a team that is at the center of activity within HR. This position works closely with Payroll, Recruiters, and our HR Business Partners all while providing excellent customer service to our managers and employees statewide. Our work is meaningful, and you’ll be supporting an agency completing critical forestry work across the state. Oregon is proud of its forests, and our team is proud of the work we accomplish to protect, manage, and promote forest stewardship.
As the Human Resource Assistant, you will provide support for the Department's field and staff organization and the Human Resources Section and the Assistant Deputy Director for Administration by processing a variety of Human Resources related actions, assisting with recruitment and personnel processing, and processing bills for payments, providing support during the budget process and conducting annual inventory control for Business Services and Human Resources. This position is responsible for providing a variety of Human Resources and Budget related records and reports, including data collection in support of the collective bargaining process and Board of Forestry. The position assures compliance with rules, regulations, procedures, and reviews records for accuracy.

Minimum Qualifications:
Two years of human resources clerical-support experience directly assisting human resources professionals in the administrative functions of a human resources program
OR
Three years progressively responsible administrative, clerical or record-keeping support experience.
Three years progressively responsible administrative, clerical or record-keeping support experience.
- College-level course work may substitute for the general experience requirement based on 45-quarter units per year.
- The State Certified Human Resources Professional (SCHRP) certification, awarded by the Oregon Chief Human Resources Office, substitutes for six months of human resource professional-level experience.
Requested Skills:
- Knowledge and experience in using Workday.
- Basic skill in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook) and intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel.
- Must maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information.
- Must demonstrate positive interpersonal relationships and work as part of a collaborative team.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with a variety of people to provide information, answer questions, and explain decisions.
- Experience providing technical-administrative support.
- Must have experience managing multiple priorities and ability to meet deadlines.
