Provides care, custody, and control of young male juveniles under the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ). Under general supervision, exercises safety and security measures in an institutional setting. Observes and reports activities of institutionalized population; provides counseling to population as a function of treatment plan. Maintain appropriate control and protective services of juveniles on and off campus, including security and well-being of youth at all times. Supervises and directs juvenile movement during various activities on and off campus; maintains correct physical headcount at all times. Conduct regular security checks of living units; completes and submits required reports; supervises, directs and documents activities related to families and volunteers. Observes and reports activities of juveniles; maintain log of all activities. Make regular sanitation and maintenance checks of dorm and report results to appropriate personnel; Complete requisitions for needed household supplies. Serve as a member of the treatment staffing team to develop a rehabilitative program for juveniles. Ensure that juveniles receive prescribed treatment including medical and behavioral prescriptions. Counsel juveniles on day-to-day reality oriented problems. Attends training and maintains certification required by the Law Enforcement Training Act. This position is responsible for the safety, security and control of incarcerated juveniles, site supervision required and incumbent must be able to physically restrain a juvenile in the event of a disturbance requiring physical intervention.
Minimum and Additional Requirements:
Must be at least 21 years old and possess a high school diploma or GED with a valid driver’s license plus 18 months of direct work experience in a correctional, security, police or military facility. Must be eligible for certification under the Law Enforcement Training Act and able to successfully complete the Agency’s Basic Training Program.
