Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach is seeking an experienced Housekeeping Manager to oversee the day to day operations of the housekeeping department. The Manager is responsible for the hiring, training and development of a staff of 9 to cover 3 shifts. Overall, the Housekeeping Department is responsible for upholding and maintaining the cleanliness and safety standards of Ripley’s Aquarium.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following tasks:
Following all safety procedures & maintaining a high level of safety awareness throughout department
Scheduling department to ensure proper coverage
Possess basic knowledge of aquarium and provide assistance and information to guests as needed
Hiring and development of staff
Training entire staff to do their job properly Inspecting entire facility to ensure it is maintained and providing both positive and corrective feedback to crewmembers
Follow up on projects to ensure they are completed properly and in a timely manner
Approval of department timesheets
Conduct formal, written evaluation of all crewmembers
Ordering and maintaining all housekeeping supplies and writing related Purchase Orders
Covering shifts as needed
Communicating with and supporting Director of Operations as needed
Encouraging crew to be team players and have a positive work attitude while doing the same
Helping with other positions throughout the aquarium as needed
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 60 pounds
Work may involve stepladders, or lifts, reaching overhead, bending, and stooping, climbing and crawling.
Able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred qualifications:
3-4 years in a lead housekeeping role
Prior supervisory experience
Excellent communication skills
Prior training and development experience
Articulate, friendly and well-spoken.
Language: Fluent in English
