Workers' Compensation Claim Adjuster

Location: South Carolina

Description: State of South Carolina is in need of Workers' Compensation Claim Adjuster right now, this position will be placed in South Carolina. For complete informations about this position opportunity kindly see the descriptions. Receives, determines and authorizes medical and lost time payments in accordance with the S.C. Workers' Compensation Law. Manages medical only, temporary total files, total disability files and death claims. Determines continuing lost time and substantiates with medical documentation. Pays related medical bills within 30 days. Interprets Workers' Compensation Commission orders for payment. Makes recommendations for vocational rehabilitation and/or special medical management referrals. Develops procedures and controls for efficient claim handling. Attends depositions, viewings, hearings and informal conferences before the WC Commission. Evaluates facts in determining legal liability of the state or other parties involved. Conducts investigations of claims to include stress, heart attack, communicable diseases and reported fraudulent claims.

Minimum and Additional Requirements:
A bachelor's degree and experience in workers' compensation insurance or claims examining/adjusting. Requires successful candidate to become a licensed adjuster in South Carolina within one year of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:
Licensed insurance adjuster with extensive workers' compensation claim adjusting experience. Knowledge of workers' compensation law, rules and regulations. Knowledge of insurance practices and procedures. Knowledge of legal processes, medical terminology, costs of medical treatment, insurance policies and coverages. Knowledge of methods and techniques for determining compensable wages.
