Please revert back ASAP Position: Data Warehouse Technical Lead Location: Columbia, SC Duration: 12 Months Not to Exceed Rate: DOE Submission Deadline: 7/12/2013 Interview Type: Phone or In Person Posting Description: Scope of the Project: § The client has implemented a Data Warehouse and related software components for purposes of tax and revenue compliance and analysis. The Data Warehouse also serves as a primary data source for other business intelligence activities. This work involves proprietary software from Revenue Solutions Inc.

(RSI), in particular their Portfolio Warehouse (PW) product. § client is implementing a number of measures to enhance database security and to enhance implementation of audit controls and least priv! ilege. Most of these measures impact the Data Warehouse enviro! nments, and require corresponding changes to Data Warehouse configuration. Some of these changes may be facilitated by the new release 3.2.2 of PW.

§ There are four Data Warehouse environments (“Sandbox,” Development, Model Office, and Production) in a virtualized infrastructure. A dedicated systems engineer is needed to manage these environments and to serve as liaison to client Infrastructure Support. § Specific Duties and Responsibilities: § Under limited supervision, performs the independent analysis, design, development, testing, implementation and maintenance of the core PW software and the database and network infrastructure of the client Data Warehouse, utilizing advanced knowledge of Business Intelligence technologies in a Microsoft server and SQL Server environment. Assumes highly complex, expert-level technical duties within this environment.

Serves as liaison to client Infrastructure Support for the Production environment. Serves as the ! technical lead in the planning, design, and implementation of software applications for the Data Warehouse § These tasks/skills do not include database administration support or network infrastructure support tasks, as these responsibilities fall under a different support area within the client IRM organization. However, detailed knowledge of these areas is needed in order to provide configuration requirements and to assist in problem resolution. § Utilizes the most complex technologies in the development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of complex computer infrastructure systems.

Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of Data Warehouse architecture, including techniques such as data partitioning for handling very large databases, architectural principles including SOA and the performance of web services, and experience with enterprise web applications. Serves as Data Warehouse liaison to Infrastructure Support staff in database, operating systems, and! networking. Comprehends how all of the pieces fit and work together. Â! § Maintains development, "sandbox," and Model Office environments and oversees migration of system and application components among these environments and to the Production environment.

Manages projects to install hot fixes, new releases, and component upgrades. One of candidate’s initial responsibilities will be the implementation of PW release 3.2.2. § Monitors performance of application and system components, and resolves bottlenecks and architectural issues. Modifies existing hardware and software configurations to correct defects, to adapt to new hardware or system software, or to improve compatibility or performance.

Demonstrate a strong understanding of Service Oriented Architecture, and Data Warehouse technology. § Participates in the preparation of needs assessments, planning documents, RFPs, budgets, and project reports. Actively participates in the use of the agency Project Management methodology which includes project documentation, plannin! g, scheduling, change management, resource allocation, communication, budgeting, quality and risk management, and requirements tracking. § Keeps project and resource management apprised of activities, progress, issues, and recommendations.

Prepares and delivers professional quality written and oral reports to staff, end users, and management. § Ensure that all installation tasks, test results, and component configurations are fully documented. TIMEFRAME: § Position to begin effective on or about August 5, 2013 and to extend through June 30, 2014. Assignment can be renewed for additional one-year periods by mutual agreement.

SKILLS REQUIRED: § Experience and expertise in software installation and implementation. § Experience in configuration management. § Experience and expertise in hardware and software testing; familiarity with testing methodologies and preparation of test plans. § Experience and expertise in isolation and diagnosis of hardw! are and software defects, including use of diagnostic tools such as mon! itors and traces.

§ Proficiency in Java environments under Windows. Experience with Glassfish a plus. § Expert knowledge of databases and relational database concepts. Experience with SQL Server 2005 required.

§ Experience with Windows 7 operating system and the Windows 2003/2008 server environment. § Experience with Data Warehouse concepts, including techniques for handling very large databases. § Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. § Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with business users, management, vendors, and peers.

§ Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills. Ability to complete assignments on time. § Understanding of deployment methodology concepts including design, build, testing, and deployment. § The individual will operate with very limited supervision, within standards and processes established for the SCDOR Data Warehouse and over-all Agen! cy and IRM procedures.

Client systems include extremely sensitive and confidential information; position requires complete discretion and trustworthiness.
