Responsible for supplier development, including supplier assessment, supplier selection and verify supplier capacity throughout the life cycle of the product. Responsib! le for project management to introduce new parts and suppliers. Data input and maintenance in all related IT systems; cost reduction and cost avoidance measures for materials and commodity groups; support supplier quality targets. Track purchase planning and business planning.
Essential Job FunctionslResponsibilities
Supplier Development & Maintenance
- Survey potential suppliers globally
- Develop and implement commodity strategies to meet business plans.
- Lead project management from selection through awarded projects to PPAP approval. Including APQP planning and implementing, facilitate PPAP submission, ensure successful PPAP submission and safe launch of new materials I parts.
- Conduct supplier assessments, site visits, RFQ5, financial analysis and quality system audits.
- Identify suppliers with high cost reduction opportunities (quality, value add, value stream and 5S lean concepts) and execute supplier w! orkshops to identify and realize cost reduction measures. !
- Travel as required (domestically and internationally) to benchmark supplier best practices that can be used to develop current supply base and eliminate waste and unnecessary costs in supplier processes.
- Visit suppliers to verify capacity, current run rates, sub-supplier cost structures, packaging costs, inventory levels, other supplier business levels, financial concerns, etc.
- Responsible for supplier OTD, quality, cost out I productivity measurements and improvement plans.
- Responsible for development and maintenance of Proterra standard terms & conditions in conjunctionwith Legal and Finance.
- Responsible for developing, negotiating and writing contracts.
- Responsible for flow down design and contract requirements to suppliers
- Work with sales forecast to establish planning horizon.
- Establish tooling budget and communicate as appropriate.
- Develop materials ! phase-in or transition plans for new parts until stable productions
- Identify and resolve configuration and planning issues that require BOM actions.
- Assist in any issues to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Support supplier quality, planning, engineering, sales, manufacturing and other groups as required.
- ERP maintenance as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree and at least 5 years of experience in buying within manufacturing industry.
- Extensive experience with supplier identification, negotiations, development, and product launch for new technology.
- Experience with low volume technology sourcing environments
- Extensive experience with APQP and PPAP processes.
- Knowledge of MRP, manufacturing, inventory control, and production planning.
- Proficient in P0 I supplier contract terms & condition! s development
- Working knowledge and experience with suppliers ! within NAFTA.
- Experience is cost down activities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Software â€" Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.
- Commercial negotiation skills
- Contract drafting skills preferred
- Familiar with electric vehicles or analogous technologies
- Legal awareness as related to buying
- Ability to communicate and interact with all levels of the organization, supply base, customers
- Strong analytical skills; ability to compile data efficiently and effectively problem solve
- Strong oral & written communications and excellent presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal skills including negotiating and conflict resolution
- Ability to react quickly, make effective decisions and function well under pressure
