GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOBUnder close supervision and only when consistent with local pharmacy regulations, prepares pharmacy orders for filling and compounding, and maintains work area and stocks.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all inclusive.Under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist-in-Charge, compounds and dispenses medical prescriptions.Refill prescriptions and create delivery tickets under supervision of Pharmacist-in-Charge. Enter or scan into computer system all required patient information and documents.Gathers the necessary pharmaceuticals, stages the prescription and products for the Pharmacist-in-Charge to check under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist-in-Charge.Take the lead in identifying patients requiring follow-up each day by Pharmacist-in-Charge.Contact patients in order to obtain supply and medication inventory, check on status and plan future deliveries.Place documents into hard copy patient clinical file if appropriate.Assist Pharmacist-in-Charge in obtaining needed information such as lab values.Prepare end-of-therapy pick-up tickets for discharged patients.Work with the nursing department to prepare patients for system discharge and maintenance of census records.Assist pharmacist in dealing with patient care issues.Receives and stores incoming supplies.Ensures that inventory stock levels of drug items or legend ancillary equipment are maintained at appropriate levels.Verifies stock and enters data in computer to maintain inventory records.Maintains all related compounding records, prescription logs, and any other related files as determined by the Pharmacist-in-Charge.Performs any related a septic validation testing procedures; keeps a record of those results on file as determined by the Pharmacist-in-Charge.Ensure that all medications are checked minimally on a monthly basis for expiration dating or at each restocking.Provides the Pharmacist-in-Charge with a list of expired medications on a monthly basis.Cleans the pharmacy and compounding area per policy and procedure.Maintains all compounding records and Quality Control notebook.Performs daily temperature checks on refrigerator, freezer, and incubators and documents appropriately.May also be required to perform front-end, back-end, intake, and clerical duties relating to the department.Participates in Improving Organizational Performance (IOP) program.Performs any other related tasks as determined by the pharmacist or Pharmacist-in-Charge.Provide after hours support as needed.Other duties as assigned.Here is what you can expect when you join our Village as a Pharmacy Technician: A "community first, company second" culture based on Core Values that really matter.Clinical outcomes consistently ranked above the national average.Award-winning education and training across multiple career paths to help you reach your potential.Performance-based rewards based on stellar individual and team contributions.A comprehensive benefits package designed to enhance your health, your financial well-being and your future.Dedication, above all, to caring for patients.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS(Education, licenses, certifications, and experience required to fulfill the essential duties, include computer skills as required): High school graduate.Passed the National Pharmacy Certification Program (CPhT) exam.Completed an aseptic technique program/course (e.g., ASHP program).Have a minimum of six months hospital pharmacy technician or related experience and a good working knowledge of pharmacy procedures; orHave a minimum six months pharmacy technician experience performing IVs.Completed employer hazardous chemical handling and waste disposal training program.ESSENTIAL BEHAVIORS, SKILLS, AND ATTITUDES REQUIRED FOR SUCCESS IN THIS POSITIONCommitment to HomeChoice Partners/DaVita's values of Service Excellence, Integrity, Team, Continuous Improvement, Accountability, Fulfillment and Fun with ability to demonstrate those positively and proactively to patients, teammates, management, physicians, and/or vendors in every day performance and interactions.Must have ability to rely on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.PHYSICAL DEMANDS/HEALTH STATUS REQUIREMENTSPhysical requirements can vary.
