Description
Job Purpose:
Assembles components into gensets, following all facility ! and safety policies.
Able
to read and understand work orders and standard work instructions, and be able to work in basic CAT computer systems.
Must be aware of all quality issues and assembly requirements from Caterpillar to ensure that their work meets the requirements of the end customer.
Communicate with supporting departments as needed to ensure work is correct and accurate.
Job Responsibilities:
All positions involve assembling components into gensets.
All Assemblers must read and comprehend CAT work orders and standard work instructions, and torque specifications in detail.
Quality and safety of work is imperative, while completing job functions in a specified amount of time.

Assembles sub-frames, looms (wiring harnesses), control panels, running gear, canopies and other components such as engines and alternators, from work orders and standard work instructions, to construc! t generator sets.
·
May operate a forktruck! or other powered vehicle.
·
May operate a crane.
·
Input data into CAT computer systems for record collection and reporting.
·
Must wear protective equipment when performing work
·
Possesses a basic overall understanding of the product and line flow.
·
Masters the required operations in a given area.
·
Works diligently on CPS Guiding Principles (Understands and identifies waste).
·
Meets all performance requirements for the line and area.
·
Fills in and helps the team where needed to maintain line flow.
·
Trains to learn multiple operations in their assigned area to maximize the area’s ability to respond to changing needs.
·
Assists in training employees who are new to the workstation.
·
Keeps assigned operation or cell metrics accurate and updated (PQVC)

Initiates timely Andon calls to the Team Lead.
·
Participates in process troubleshooting and helps to determine root cause.
·
Participates in RIWs, contributing process expertise.
·
Submits Continuous Improvement (CI) ideas, provides feedback on ideas and participates in
idea implementation.
·
Participates in Process Improvement Dialogs (PIDs).
·
Participates in creating Standardized Work and follows defined method.
·
Attend required annual training.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
·
Current work experience in Bay 1
·
Minimum 16 months’ work experience a the Newberry SC facility in Operations.
·
Good communication skills
·
Basic Computer knowledge (able to use a mouse, keyboard, etc.)
·
Able to work in a manufacturing environment
·
Able to work OT when required, including weekends
·
Able to follow safety procedures
·
Able to follow work orders and standard work instructions
·
Able to safely operate various types of hand-tools and various power tools (hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical)
·
Able to work with repetitive assembly operations
·
Able to work in a team environment
·
Basic knowledge of wiring
·
Meet ! physical requirements

Mechanical skills

Forklift experience
·
Able to operate a forklift or other powered equipment
·
Able to operate a crane

Intermediate computer skills (able to access standard work, etc.)
