More details about this occupation opportunity kindly see the descriptions. This position is located within the Division of State Agencies Support Services of the Department of Administration. Incumbent will pick up and deliver mail and packages from state agencies by driving state-owned vehicle. Mail includes time sensitive, specialized items such as controlled drugs, payroll, and biohazard samples that require special handling and/or overnight delivery. Will sort, organize mail and packages in mailroom and van by customers and routes. Will complete pre and post-trip inspection on a daily basis before leaving mailroom to include refueling van. Makes proper decisions to assure personal and vehicle safety, to include the proper use of the state fuel card. Follows all driver policies and procedures for operation of State Fleet Management leased vans. Determines by inspection and weighing mail on scales the volume and class of mail picked up from individual agencies. Logs weights daily in log book for invoicing. Performs other duties as required
Minimum and Additional Requirements:
A high school diploma and work experience in postal, courier or delivery operations. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for required work experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid South Carolina Class "D" Driver's license. Drives state van and must be able to sit for an extended period of time. Must be able to lift 55 pounds, climb stairs, and work indoors and outdoors on a daily basis. Must possess working knowledge of basic mechanics and South Carolina highway and road networks. Incumbent may be required to work evenings and/or weekends. Frequent stooping and/or bending required. Position may be required to work during emergency or hazardous weather situations.
