Under the supervision of the Human Services Program Coordinator, the Human Services Specialist I will provide services to remedy abuse, negl ect, exploitations or self-neglect of adults or children unable to protect themselves; and assist Human Services Specialist II's with providing casework services in the area of assessment, family preservation, and foster care.
Provide or arrange transportation to resources in the community as a part of social service aide plan.
Open and distribute mail that is not labeled as confidential.
Make requests for educational, medical, dental, law enforcement records i.e. to include Birth Certificates, Social Security cards and link associated files in CAPSS, etc.
Make referrals to service providers, Seneca searches, public indexes, sex offenders, etc.
Assist with the transportation of children.
Assist with child and family visitation and enter brief dictation in CAPSS system.
Assist with other administrative support functions to include correspondences, copy, fax, email, etc.
Perform other related duties as dir ected by supervisor.
Perform Red Cross Shelter duty or other emergency response duties when needed and as directed.

Minimum and Additional Requirements:
A high school diploma and three (3) years experience in clerical, administrative, social work, correctional, business administration, or general business.
An Associate's Degree and one (1) year experience in clerical, administrative, social work, correctional, business administration, or general business.

Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of information gathering techniques, the administration of medicine and simple treatment and care, individual and group behavior activities, sanitation, personal hygiene, and basic health and safety practices; and child safety practices. Ability to record client data and prepare written reports, communication effectively, follow instructions, and maintain good interpersonal relationships with clients and co-workers.
