Summary:
- Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Director, the Phlebotomist assumes the responsibility for being proficient in phlebotomy, specimen processing, and L.I.S. data entry and retrieval. A Phlebotomist may be assigned to one discipline, however, he/she will maintain proficiency in the remaining disciplines. This position must demonstrate competency with infants, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Other duties are, but not limited to, processing Lab referral paperwork, collecting information and reports, data entry, answering phones, and report distribution. The Laboratory Assistant performs specimen collection, accessioning and logging of the specimens delivered to the laboratory.
Requirements:
- Current California Phlebotomy Certification required and AHA BLS Certification.
- Hospital experience preferred.
- Must be able to work every other weekend. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
