Environmental Health Manager I

Location: South Carolina

Description: State of South Carolina is at present looking to employ Environmental Health Manager I right now, this job will be placed in South Carolina. Serves as project manager, applying appropriate modeling techniques to determine 7Q10, average annual flow and wasteload allocations (WLAs) for wastewater discharges,! as requested by permit engineers. Develops appropriate data inputs for incorporation into water quality models and analyses. Assist other program areas in review of water quality modeling and data analysis. Meet with and, as appropriate, provide input to fellow employees, consultants and permittees on wasteload allocation matters. Assist in development of models/Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) for waters not attaining appropriate criteria for dissolved oxygen, or nutrients. Represent the Section on various workgroups (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) relicensing, drought, etc.).

Minimum and Additional Requirements:
A bachelor's degree in the natural or physical sciences or related technical field; or an associate degree in the natural or physical sciences or related technical field and two years of environmental experience; or high school diploma and four years of environmental experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
A mas! ter's degree in the natural or environmental sciences, public ! health, or related technical field. Knowledge of environmental management practices, hydrology, ecology, water chemistry, limnology and advanced mathematics and statistics. Experience with water quality simulation modeling. Experience in the practical application of water quality modeling principles, wasteload allocation procedures and TMDL development. Familiarity with SC water quality issues.

Excellent organizational and communication skills. The ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both an oral and written manner, and be able to function as a team member. proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), and GIS software. The ability to operate State owned vehicles, to conduct field inspections and make visual observations of facilities, samples, plans, specifications, reports, water bodies, etc. Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina Driver's license, and be willing to travel. Some overnight travel may be required.
