GENERAL MANAGER (TIRE AND AUTO REPAIR)

 

Independent Auto Repair and Tire Center is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead their day to day operations. Must have a strong background in automotive service and tires. Commercial tire experience is a plus. This is with a stable, family-owned, auto repair facility that also has a heavy focus on tires and wheel kits. Additionally, this shop also has a large commercial tire business. The successful candidate is a positive leader who is great at working with customers, managing inventory, and motivating their employees. The General Manager / Service Manager is expected to be a "working" manager, actively working with customers on estimates / repairs, working the POS, etc. It is important that the automotive Service Manager / General Manager hired leads by example and has a proven track record of running an automotive repair facility. This is with a very reputable family owned organization with many repeat customers and a stable team. This is a new role as the owner is looking to take a step back from daily operations. It is important that the person hired is trustworthy, reliable, and great at interacting with customers and diffusing any potential situations. Moreover, it is important that the Service Manager / General Manager hired is great at working with technicians and dispatching work through the shop for maximum efficiency. Experience with RO writer is a big plus. Must be ethical and someone who does right by the company as this family owned facility that cares about their positive reputation and being a positive member of the community. The General Manager / Service Manager will be responsible to oversee a team of 15 people. The Service Manager / General Manager hired will have support from the owner to get their job done. 5 day work week and excellent working conditions. Responsibilities:

• Supervises all functions of service department personnel and activities
• Schedule mechanics/technicians' work, ordering parts, ensuring the quality and timely completion of jobs exceeding customer expectations, the safety of personnel, and housekeeping of the shop
• Actively work to drive and reach sales goals through customer interactions including retail and commercial tire and service sales
• The Service Manager is responsible for assisting customers with tire selections and under-car repair services needed
• Manage the service department effectively by scheduling associates, service appointments and organizing work flow to deliver quality work on time to customers
• Deliver quality work on time, every time to the customers to ensure long-term growth in sales/service and profits
• Order parts inventory and tires as needed to preform repairs; manage parts inventory by returning parts before they become obsolete.
• Work with outside parts vendors to secure difficult to find parts.
• The General Manager is directly responsible for producing and maintaining a positive and conducive environment for both customers and employees
• Focus on maximizing shop efficiencies, revenues, productivity and customer satisfaction
• Sets expectations and communicates regularly with staff on goals, customer satisfaction, safety, training while ensuring that policies and procedures are followed
• Actively work to train and develop the service department associates
• Control the flow of work through the shop
• Responsible for ensuring that all customers are satisfied
• Communicate safety and mechanical issues to the store manager to relate to the customer
• Ultimately responsible for total shop appearance and cleanliness
• Other Duties as required

Compensation:
Compensation in the $90,000 - $100,000 based on experience and track record.
