The Disability Claims Processor is responsible for reviewing, analyzing and processing disability claims. In addition, this position is responsible for making determinations to approve or deny short-term disability payments.

Gain and maintain an understanding of the plan designs and effectively apply that knowledge to everyday processing.- Effectively review and analyze short-term disability income claims, initial liability, and ongoing claim determinations from first submission to finalization.
- Analyze and assess claimant and medical information to determine entitlement of ongoing benefits and draw valid conclusions.
- Maintain complete and accurate coding and processing.
Customer Service
Provide high quality customer service to all Fund members.
Respond to and resolve complex issues, including those escalated by members.
Raise issues as appropriate to Team Supervisor or Department Manager.
Learn and use professional excellence tools and concepts to ensure efficient and quality output/service delivery.
Teamwork
Work cooperatively with other team members
Actively participate in team meetings and training activities.
Perform additional responsibilities and projects as periodically assigned.
Education/Certification:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Medical Billing & Coding Certification (not required, but candidates with this qualification will be given preference)
Skills/Abilities:
- Prior knowledge of short-term disability claims required
- Ability to maintain production and quality standards
- Solid knowledge of medical terminology
- Minimum 40 WPM and 3,000 KPH proficiency
- Knowledge of MS Excel & MS Word
- Professional, client-focused approach to colleagues and assignments.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with exceptional attention to details.
- Ability to seek out experiences that may change perspective or provide an opportunity to learn new things.
